Are you Ready for the Holidays?

HolidaysIt’s getting to be that time again. Holidays are coming up quickly. I don’t know where this past year has gone, but it has certainly flown by quickly. It seems that the older we get the quicker the years go by, and time just runs together. I remember as a kid, it took FOREVER for Santa to come again, now it seems like only a month ago I woke up to the Christmas Tree over flowing with presents. (I have 4 boys; so there were quite a few.)

Furniture Care Tips

Furniture CareProper care of your furniture will help protect your investment. Keep reading for some furniture care tips.

Furniture manufacturers recommend that consumers not wait until severe soiling occurs before cleaning because the greater the soiling, the less the likelihood of restoring the fabric’s original color, appearance, and texture and the greater the adverse affect on indoor environmental quality.

Regular cleaning by a trained, certified professional can help restore your upholstery’s appearance, extend its life, and keeping it looking “like new.” According to the I.I.C.R.C., Here are some tips for maintaining your furniture:

  • Control soil by using arm caps and rotating seat cushions frequently to prolong life and appearance of areas prone to wear and tear.
  • Remove dry soil by vacuuming and, depending on the fabric, brushing to remove dust and soil particles.
  • Increased cleaning may be required when fabric is subjected to heavy use, or when it is located in homes occupied with persons with allergies or respiratory sensitivity.

Carpet Care & Your Families Health

Carpet Care JacksonvilleThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says… “Until such a time as the carpet fibers are cleaned, the potential for human exposure and health risk remains high.” “Every time carpets and fabrics are emptied of their pollution build-up through professional cleaning methods, there is a health benefit.”

Imagine a carpeted floor and a hard surface floor in your home, office or work area. Let’s say that you vacuum the carpet daily and sweep the floor daily. Six months later, what would your hard floor look like? Remember, you have only swept the floor, not mopped. You would have a grungy looking hard floor, but the carpet would still look good. The reason for this is that carpet does not magically repel dirt…it hides it! Same dirt on both floors, you just can’t see it on the carpet…yet.

Carpet Cleaning Coupons for $6.95 – Deal or Scam?

BBB Accredited Since 2006You’re ready to have your wall-to-wall carpeting professionally cleaned and want to get the best job for the best price, right? You may have received a coupon in a Val Pak or via direct mail, advertising $6.95 per room! What a great deal, huh? How can they afford to charge such a low price?

As a reputable business owner who has been serving this area for over 2 decades, I can tell you with all certainty, THEY CAN’T! The gas, alone, to get to your home would make this a losing proposition for the ‘company’. Then there are cleaning agents, set up and tear down time, and the actual job labor. A firm charging $6 or $9 a room would soon go broke. So, how or why are they charging this price? The answer is simple – Bait & Switch! Here is a typical scenario:

Blow Out the Candles… Quick!

Cleaning Soot Out Of CarpetCandles. There’s nothing more appealing than the sweet scent of a burning candle. Retailers tend to believe that the sweet smell of candles more closely resembles the sweet smell of profits.

After all, candles are big business, with sales of over $2 billion dollars this year alone. It’s nearly impossible to enter a department store, clothing store, drug store or the corner hardware store, without finding candles on display.

Aromatherapy candles have touted relaxation benefits and mind/body healing. But, however soothing candles may be to your mental state, however appealing their odors, and however romantic a mood they set, candles may
be causing irreparable damage to your home.

4 Common Misconceptions & Myths about Carpet Cleaning

True or False???

#1: It doesn’t matter which method of cleaning is used.
FALSE. The method of cleaning used on your carpet has a great deal to do with how clean your carpet gets (how much dirt and residue is pulled out), how healthy for your family your carpet is and how long your carpet ultimately lasts.

There are basically 2 methods used to clean carpet. One is dry cleaning which consists of using dry power or foam. This method’s benefit (your carpet doesn’t get wet so it doesn’t need to dry) is also its biggest drawback. This method tends to leave dirt & other pollutants behind because the carpets are not rinsed.

The Truth Behind the Carpet Cleaning B.S.

BBB LogoB.S. = Bait and Switch

We know who they are, but many people still call for those INCREDIBLE prices! When it’s too good to be true, it normally is. What happens is, you call on a coupon price known as the maintenance or basic clean. The technician arrives and proceeds to tell you that your carpets cannot be cleaned with maintenance or basic cleaning and that you will need chemical s(so are they cleaning with water for a basic cleaning?) If you agree, then are they using an actual carpet cleaning chemical specially made for your carpet or is it laundry detergent? This is just the beginning of a disaster. Some of the scare tactics I’ve actually heard from our New clients are that it was “illegal to do a basic cleaning on your carpets because of the condition” or even threatening to call child protective services because of the condition of the carpets while children were living in the residence (the carpets weren’t even that dirty). Here’s one for you, a carpet cleaner was looking for the up sell and actually had a bottle of urine and started squirting it around so he could make more money on a urine treatment, is that who you want in your house?
